Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe: Food, Fun and Live Music

Greenville, SC 29601
Hours: Monday thru Saturday 4 p.m. to 2 a.m.

“Acoustic” may be in its name, but Smiley’s Acoustic Cafe provides a stage for all sorts of live music, ranging from “Open Mic Night” on DSCF3364Monday’s to full-blown rock and roll. But it’s not just about music. In addition to a hearty assortment of spirits, its well-stocked bar features a staggering array of beers.

It takes the “Cafe” in its name seriously. The menu runs the gamut from apps like “Brie with Caramel Rum Sauce” to “Panko Battered Shrimp.” There are a variety of salads, as well as chili and a “soup of the day.” Burgers, Hoagies and Po-Boys dominate the sandwich selection. And, finally, the entrees, which range from $13 to $17, are an eclectic mix of Asian, Italian, Mexican and American fare.

But the essence of Smiley’s is the live music that fills its tidy corner stage night after night.

Smiley’s has its own parking lot, but especially on the weekends, parking is at a premium: Welcome to Greenville’s West End. An intimate venue, Smiley’s can get crowded. Friday and Saturday nights are particularly busy. There is plenty of standing room; but if you want a seat, arrive early. The serving staff is well accomplished at handling the crowd; so even when the joint is packed, service remains friendly and prompt.
