Situated on a small rise behind a hedgerow far off the street in the 221 Pelham strip center, Adams Bistro is easy to miss. Open since 2008, its a family run eatery featuring a casual atmosphere and American cuisine. At its helm is Chef Chris Adams.

An attentive, friendly staff serves lunch and dinner every day, but Sunday. Because its a family enterprise, it is closed on and DSC02774around some holidays. The moderately sized dining room provides table seating only: no booths, no bar. An open kitchen sits behind a pony wall at one end of the room. Artworks of featured local artists, rotated every month or two, cover the walls. With the open kitchen and proximity of the tables, one might expect the room to be loud, but the noise level is remarkably low. In warmer weather, there is also outdoor seating in front and in a small courtyard on the side.

Despite the absence of a bar, alcohol is served. Moderately priced wines and beers – including an interesting selection of craft beers – as well as a wide selection of liquor are available.

Nearly overwhelming, the menu is amazingly extensive. Even among the appetizers, soups and salads, you won’t find much for less than $9, but each menu category resembles a section of the phone book with a dizzying array of entries. Apps are in the $8-to-$11 range. More than 30 sandwiches priced from the $8 Grilled Cheese to the $12 Salmon Pita, give guests plenty to think about. And that doesn’t include the list of 9 burgers ranging from the $10 regular Hamburger to the $13 Bacon, Egg & Cheese Burger.

DSC02775There are Stir-Fry, Pastas, Seafood, Beef, Veal and Port Entrees priced from a $10 Veggie Stir-Fry to a $29 Rib-Eye Surf & Turf with Fried Shrimp and Lobster.

Eyeballing the size of the space, begs the question: Where do they store all this food? But it’s fresh and perfectly prepared.

Adams Bistro also offers a comprehensive catering service for breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as specialty events, such as Hors d’oeuvres, Tailgating, Parties and Receptions.

Although 221 Pelham provides a fair amount of parking, the lot is shared with other businesses. It fills up rapidly – particularly at peak lunch hours. Arrive early.
