Trio – A Brick Oven Cafe caters to lovers of more traditional Italian cuisine with its tomato-based sauces. Although there are dishes with chicken, beef and pork, there is a nod to Southern Italy with shrimp, scallops, lobster and other seafood.

There is brick oven-baked pizzas, scads of pasta dishes, such as Fettuccini Alfredo, Baked Linguini with Meatballs and Baked DSCF3707Meat Lasagne, as well as Calzones. Pasta and entree prices range from $9.99 to $19.99. Pizzas and calzones: $9.99 to $13.99. Available only for lunch, a hearty selection of Croissants and Wraps run the price gamut from $8.99 to $9.49.

Although there are a handful of more expensive labels found on the inclusive wine list, most are moderately priced in the $25 to $35 range. Usually there are about 25 different wines available by the glass, ranging from $6 to $10. If you want a popular domestic beer, you’ll have to settle for it in a bottle. If you enjoy micro brews or are just feeling a little adventurous, there are six draft-beer taps dispensing craft beers – most are from Carolina-based breweries.

A Greenville fixture for nearly 20 years, Trio sits downtown on the corner of Main and and Coffee Streets. Composed of one large dinning room, it nonetheless has an intimate, almost cozy atmosphere. Dominating the back wall is the brick oven and open kitchen. The bar, with its dozen or so seats, is a terrific spot to relax before dinner or to grab quick bite. Wood booths line the walls with tables occupying the space in between.

Service is friendly and prompt. You’ll feel like a regular on your first visit.

Go hungry; the portions are generous.
